Big Play with Loose Parts

At Banana Moon Kempston, we encourage children to explore and learn through open-ended play.

Recently, our Mini Moons enjoyed exploring wooden planks in the garden as part of our loose parts play activities. Simple resources like these allow children to experiment with movement and develop their ideas through play.

Loose parts provide wonderful opportunities for children to use larger body movements, helping to develop balance, coordination and physical confidence. As children explore how to move, carry and position the planks, they are also building important problem-solving skills.

Activities like this support children’s imagination and creativity, as they discover new ways to use the materials and create their own play experiences.

Through open-ended resources, children are free to explore, test ideas and develop their physical and cognitive skills in a fun and engaging way.
