At Banana Moon Kempston, we are always looking for opportunities to help children learn through meaningful real-life experiences.
Recently, we held a community Yard Sale and were delighted to raise an amazing £214.60. We would like to thank all the families and members of our local community who supported the event.
The idea for the Yard Sale came from the children's growing interest in recycling, reusing and donating. Through visits to local charity shops and discussions at nursery, the children have been learning that items can often be reused rather than thrown away.
Donating pre-loved items helps reduce waste and encourages children to think about how they can care for the environment. It also helps them understand the importance of helping others within their community.
As part of the project, we have also been reviewing and refreshing resources throughout the nursery to ensure our learning environments remain purposeful and engaging for all children.
The money raised will be used to purchase new resources that support learning and development across the nursery, helping us continue to provide exciting opportunities for exploration, creativity and discovery.
We are incredibly proud of how this project connected children's interests with important lessons about sustainability, responsibility and community spirit.
Thank you again to everyone who contributed and helped make the Yard Sale such a success.
